You're in. Here's the five minutes that follow.
Thank you for buying it. Three steps and you have a real list of what is waiting on you: install it, paste your key, connect the one source your work actually arrives in. Nothing on this page needs an account and none of it emails us. If a step does not behave the way it says it will, that is our bug, and the last section says how to tell us.
It looks like XXXXXXXX-XXXXXXXX-XXXXXXXX-XXXXXXXX — copy
the whole string.
1 · Install it
Download Docket for Apple silicon
That link always points at the latest release, so it is worth keeping. Open the disk image and drag Docket into Applications, then run it from Applications rather than from the mounted image — an app running off a disk image cannot keep its data anywhere sensible.
Docket runs on macOS 26 or later, on a Mac with Apple silicon. On an Intel Mac or an older macOS, mail us and we will tell you where that stands.
It is signed with an Apple Developer ID and notarized, so it opens with an ordinary double-click. If macOS tells you it cannot be checked for malicious software, stop and tell us. That means the download was damaged or the build was wrong, and the right fix is a new download rather than a right-click that teaches you to bypass the warning.
2 · Paste the key
Open Settings → Licence, paste the key, press Activate. The app checks it once with Gumroad and then leaves you alone: at most one check a day. The request carries your licence key, the product id, and a yes or no on whether to count this Mac. Only the first check for your key on this Mac says yes. That is how a team licence counts its Macs. It never carries your name, your device, or your data.
After that, a validated licence keeps working for 14 days with no network at all. A plane, a train, a bad café: none of them are a licensing event. Only a key we have positively been told is dead stops working.
3 · Connect one source, not all of them
Docket reads nine built-in sources and the connectors in its library. Connecting all of them first is the slowest possible start. Add the one where your work actually arrives, which for most people is Jira, and sync. You should have a real list of what is waiting on you inside fifteen minutes. Add the rest when the first one has earned it.
Every source is optional, and every one is off until you connect it. There is no "recommended setup" you are failing to reach.
If the key is refused
| What it says | What it means |
|---|---|
| that key was not found | A typo, or the key from a different product. Copy it again from the Gumroad receipt — the whole string, no spaces. |
| that purchase was refunded | The subscription was refunded, so the key stopped. If that is a surprise, mail us. |
| that subscription has ended | The subscription ran out rather than being cancelled mid-period. Restart it in Gumroad and activate again. |
| the last payment on that subscription failed | A card expired or a payment bounced. Fix the payment method in Gumroad; the key starts working again on the next successful charge. |
| nothing happens, or it says the licence server did not answer | That is a network fault, not a verdict, and the app treats it as one — you keep working. Try again later; if it persists past a day, mail us. |
Moving to another Mac
Your work comes with you, because it is files. Settings → Your data → Export everything on the old Mac, install on the new one, Import an export…, then activate there. One limitation you should know about: Gumroad counts activations and its API gives us no way to give one back, so "Remove from this device" only makes the old Mac forget the key — it does not free the seat at the vendor. In practice a solo licence has room for a reinstall or two. If you genuinely run out, mail us and we will raise the count on your licence.
The refund window
There is no trial. Instead, if Docket is not for you, tell us within 14 days of your first purchase and you get your money back. No form, no argument — the diagnostics paste from the app helps us fix what went wrong for the next person, but sending it is optional.
Something is wrong
Mail hello@docketmac.com. If it is a bug, open Activity → Copy diagnostics first and paste that in — it says what each connection last returned, and it contains no ticket titles and no message bodies. It is the difference between a fix tonight and four emails.
Docket is built and answered by one person. That is the reason replies are honest and the reason they are sometimes slow.
While you are here
Three pages worth five minutes each: every network connection the app can make, enumerated from the code so you can check it with an outbound firewall, the privacy policy, which says what Docket stores, what leaves your Mac and what this website receives, and the licence terms, written to be read.
